It is my great pleasure to warmly invite you to the
2019 Hastings County Plowing Match and Farm Show,

Hosted on the farm of Brian and April Thompson, located at 1207 Sills Road in Centre Hastings. Hosting a farm show of this size requires our farm family to plan their crops and land usage around this event. Thank-you Brian and April for your commitment to the Hastings County Farm Show and Plowing Match.

As with every industry, farming is subject to increased technological changes and improvements. This year at our match, we will have both days jam packed with both old and new exciting vendors bringing their specialization to our show. This will include educational demonstrations that are used both on and off the farm. It is our aim to provide things of interest to both farmers and the general public to enrich awareness for all. For example, we will have a guest speaker demonstrating and showing the public the importance of horse therapy for those suffering from PTSD as well as a great local team demonstrating sheep herding. You will see the newest equipment and technological advances that our vendors bring as well.

As always, we will have a fun and exciting program at the Family Tent, where all can come and enjoy many guest speakers, a fashion show and so much more! The active Children’s Tent is always a great place to stop in with the kids to enjoy free crafts and face painting by our volunteers. This year, the Children’s Tent will be actively participating with our Antique Equipment display which aims to demonstrate how equipment and technology has changed over time. We are honoured to have access to so much equipment carefully preserved for generations to come.

We will also have a Queen of the Furrow competition which will choose a representative for the Hastings County Plowmen’s Association to compete for the title at the International Plowing Match. We are fortunate to have an inspiring young woman, Samantha Reid, as our current Queen of the Furrow. Samantha has proudly represented us over the past year at many community events.

Enjoy watching up close as our very talented horse and tractor plowers, plough through many acres of land, demonstrating their skill, talent, and knowledge of a perfectly plowed land. These individuals take pride in their craft and are true professionals. While there, you will see your 4H Plowers who have practiced and been mentored by highly skilled over the year how to make that perfect furrow which will give them an edge in competition ploughing.

All of our dedicated volunteers work countless hours year-round to make this event successful and happen year after year. To these volunteers, I salute your dedication and outstanding efforts in supporting a match and farm show produced for farmers by farmers. Without this amazing group of people, this event would not be possible.

We are anticipating and always hoping for great weather over the two-day event. Regardless, the show will go on rain or shine.

So again, I invite you to park the car, jump on a tractor drawn wagon and join us August 21st and 22nd at the 2019 Hastings County Plowing Match and Farm Show!
